The European Network was introduced to municipalities of the Italian region of Friuli Venezia Giulia

In the webinar “Family Friendly Municipalities: Strategic Planning and Aims”.

The seminar hosted speeches, among others, by the president of Anci Dorino Favot, by the general manager of the Agency for social cohesion of the Autonomous Province of Trento, Luciano Malfer, the president of Elfac (European large family confederation) Regina Maroncelli and the general secretary of Elfac, Raul Sanchez, and the representatives of the Municipalities of Forni di Sopra, Fiume Veneto and Lignano Sabbiadoro

The meeting therefore aimed to raise awareness of the Family in Europe Network, which was set up in 2018 in the wake of the Italian network and which now gathers 138 municipalities in nine European countries and whose aim is to create a network in Europe as well to promote policies in favour of family welfare.

“Friuli Venezia Giulia is working to become a family-friendly territory. We can become a place where new families choose to develop and carry out their own growth projects. This is why we need territorial welfare and today’s presentation of the second phase of the training project aimed at building the network of Friends of the Family Municipalities fits into this perspective”.

This is the premise with which the regional councilor for work, training, education, research, university and family Alessia Rosolen, opened the online seminar with which the Region addressed Municipalities, the third sector, companies and associations operating in the social sector, to promote the second edition of the training course for municipal family managers (Municipality Family Manager).

“The promulgation of the Family Regional Law does not conclude a political process, which still needs everyone’s contribution – Rosolen reiterated -; the family has been placed at the center of the regional political agenda as our governor Fedriga wanted and it is a theme that will develop and give answers only if everyone, local authorities, the health system, social forces, the third sector, category bodies, private individuals and the production system will give an answer, each for their part”. “The collaboration with the Autonomous Province of Trento, promoter of the ‘National Network of Municipalities Friends of the Family’, which provides the methodology of the new public family management and specialist know-how, was born from this premise”, highlighted Rosolen.

“The first training course saw the participation of 13 Municipalities, from which we can start to build system policies to be extended to the whole territory also in collaboration with Anci”, noted the councilor. The Municipalities involved were Venzone, Budoia, Fiume Veneto, Fontanafredda, Forni Avoltri, Forni d Sopra, Lignano Sabbiadoro, Majano, Mortegliano, Pasiano di Pordenone, Resia, Sacile, Pordenone.

The second course aims to “activate as many family centers and info points as possible, join the national network of Municipalities friends of the family and help the municipalities approve a Municipal Family Plan and obtain certification”, explained the commissioner.

As part of the family system, the Region has acted on the 0-6 year-old services system reaching 32,027 minors in 821 structures with the use of regional resources for over 10.7 million euros. To eliminate the fees for early childhood services, the Region then allocated 25 million euros in the year 2022/23, to which 6170 families with Isee up to 50 thousand euros were able to access, guaranteeing 37.38% coverage of places on the population aged 3-36 months (EU target is 33%, the national coverage average is 26.9%). In addition, in the last year, the School Dowry, Family Dowry and Student Psychologist Bonus measures were activated.
