On October 20, the Portuguese Large Families Association (APFN) starts the roadshow ‘Justice in Water Consumption’.
The first edition of the initiative is dedicated to Porto district and takes place at the Universidade Católica do Porto, at 2:30 pm. The event ‘Justice in Water Consumption – Porto District’ will address qualitative changes in tariffs, analyze the specific results of the Porto District and highlight some of the best national practices at the level of regulations and tariffs. Present at the APFN roadshow will be mayors of the municipalities of Porto district, as well as numerous families residing in the region.
In Portugal, families continue to be discriminated against in access to water, depending on their size and the municipality where they live. Since 2015, APFN has been developing a comparative study of Portugal’s Water Supply Tariffs which reveals where, how and why discrimination against families is maintained, especially the largest ones.
The 7th edition of the study revealed that last year the value of the fixed water tariff in Portugal was from 0 to 16€ and the total water bill recorded differences that meant more than 600€/year for the same consumption.
To support the study of one of the essential goods for families, water, APFN created in 2022 a website that allows access to all the information of the study in an intuitive way: http://www.servicosbasicos.pt.
Due to the technical nature of the initiative, places are limited and registration is mandatory. If you are an associated family and you are interested and willing to be present, please let us know to the e-mail estudos@apfn.com.pt.
