The Portuguese municipality of Oeiras, through the municipal company Parques Tejo, has launched a specific parking badge for large families in the municipality, with the support of the Portuguese Large Families Association (APFN).
The badge costs 12 euros and is valid for two years. The request to obtain the badge is made entirely online, on the Parques Tejo website.
The badge is intended for families with three or more children, at least two of whom must be under 10 years old, and have a tax residence in the municipality of Oeiras.
The municipal company Parques Tejo is also creating exclusive parking spaces for large families in areas of the municipality with a lot of car traffic, close to commercial and leisure areas in Oeiras.
The initiative aims to ‘be an example of how people-centered public policies can significantly improve citizens’ quality of life, while promoting more sustainable and inclusive mobility’.
The launch of the parking badge for families took place on 15 May, International Family Day, in Oeiras with the presence of: Rui Rei, President of Parques Tejo; João Antunes, President of the Union of Parishes of Algés, Linda-a-Velha, and Cruz Quebrada-Dafundo; Ana Cid Gonçalves, Secretary General of APFN; and the Herdade and Garcia families.
