Council receives 400,000 euros in PRR funding to convert old schools into affordable housing
The Municipality of Oleiros, the Intermunicipal Community of Beira Baixa (CIMBB) and the Institute of Housing and Urban Rehabilitation (IHRU) signed a tripartite contract which guarantees 100 percent funding under the Recovery and Resilience Plan (PRR) for the rehabilitation of four schools in the municipality for affordable housing.
Oleiros Town Council is reinforcing its tax benefits for families and companies living in the municipality in 2025.
The Municipality will continue to waive the entire variable participation in Personal Income Tax (IRS) and guarantee a percentage of 0.3% in Municipal Property Tax (IMI), the minimum rate legally permitted by law. “These measures, taken as a whole, mean a loss of revenue for the municipality, but it is an amount that is not taken out of the pockets of Oleiros families and businesses,” explains Miguel Marques, Mayor of Oleiros.
Christmas in Oleiros: AEPAA children experience a day of celebration and joy
As part of the A Magia do Natal (The Magic of Christmas) initiative, promoted by the Municipality of Oleiros, the pre-school and primary school children of the Padre António de Andrade School Group (AEPAA) and the Santa Casa da Misericórdia de Oleiros Kindergarten had a day full of entertainment.

Technicians from the Radar Social program in Oleiros are on the ground to present this social project, which aims to identify situations of social vulnerability and ensure that the situations identified receive the necessary support through available resources.

Oleiros Senior Academy starts new school year with 12 subjects and 11 trainers
With more students than last year, four new subjects and the support of 11 volunteer trainers, the Academia Sénior de Oleiros (ASO) begins the 2024/25 school year with a renewed spirit of conviviality and a great desire to learn, promoting active ageing and leisure activities. The opening ceremony, held in the late afternoon of Thursday, October 24, packed the auditorium of the Casa da Cultura in Oleiros.
Oleiros is “Most Family Responsible Municipality” for the 4th consecutive year
The Municipality of Oleiros has once again been awarded the “Most Family-Responsible Municipality” prize by the Observatory of Family-Responsible Municipalities (OAFR) of the Portuguese Association of Large Families. The award was presented this Thursday, October 17, at the University of Coimbra and the ceremony was attended by the Mayor of Oleiros, Miguel Marques, and the Deputy Mayor, Paulo Urbano.
Oleiros celebrates World Food Day with talk for children
On October 16, the Local School Health Program marked World Food Day with a talk on the importance of healthy eating, given by nutritionist Cátia Afonso. The event was aimed at students from the 1st and 2nd cycles of the Padre António de Andrade School Group (AEPAA) and was held in partnership with the Oleiros UCC (Community Care Unit), the AEPAA and the Municipality of Oleiros.

The Municipality of Oleiros is once again offering activity books to all students from the 1st to the 12th year of school at the Padre António de Andrade School Group (AEPAA), benefiting a total of around 300 enrolled students.

The Municipality of Oleiros, as well as the Beira Baixa Business Association (AEBB), give a positive assessment of the First Job Fair – An Interior of Opportunities, which took place on Friday and Saturday, September 20 and 21.
Sports vacations full of fun
School finished and the Sports Holidays began with a series of unforgettable activities for all those who took part. The initiative by the Municipality of Oleiros, with the support of the Padre António de Andrade School Group (AEPAA), involved a lot of fun and learning for around 140 children.
Oleiros students end the 2024 school year with trip to Strasbourg and Colmar.
From June 27 to 30, 22 students from the 10th grade of the Padre António de Andrade School Group (AEPAA), accompanied by representatives of the AEPAA and the Municipality of Oleiros, visited Strasbourg and Colmar. In Strasbourg, the group visited the Cathédrale Notre Dame de Strasbourg, the Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art and places such as Place Gutenberg, Petite France and the Alsace Museum. In an unforgettable cultural trip, the students were able to appreciate districts classified as World Heritage Sites by UNESCO.
Oleiros promotes walks for around 850 seniors
Between May 15 and June 21 2024, the Municipality of Oleiros organized, with the support of the parish councils in the municipality, several Senior Walks for citizens from all the parishes in the municipality. The destinations included Lisbon, Campo Maior, Palmela, Tomar, Figueira da Foz and Aveiro, among others, with around 850 participants.
Oleiros Municipality projects distinguished in the Municipality of the Year Awards
The Municipality of Oleiros won three awards at the 5th edition of the 2024 Local Authority of the Year Awards. In the Health and Welfare category, the Municipality was distinguished for its Bereavement Support Program, the CuidAdor Project and the Mobile Health Unit.
Oleiros municipality awards scholarships to higher education students
The ceremony to hand out the diplomas relating to the payment of tuition fees by the municipality for the 2023/2024 academic year took place in the Great Hall of the Town Hall. In total, 55 scholarships were awarded to students from Oeiras.
Oleiros Town Council and IEFP promote free Portuguese classes for immigrants
Foreigners living in the municipality of Oleiros are able to learn Portuguese in classes as of February 2024.
