
The Municipality of Vila Nova de Poiares is located in the Center Region (NUTS II), sub-region of Coimbra (NUTS III), District of Coimbra.
It is limited to the north by the municipality of Penacova, to the south by the municipalities of Miranda do Corvo and Lousã, to the west by Coimbra and to the east by Arganil and Góis. Due to its location, it assumes a strong centrality in the Region of Coimbra, which gives it a privileged position for economic development and urban dynamics, both in terms of the Region of Coimbra and in terms of the context of the Center Region.
The municipality covers 85 km2, subdivided into 4 parishes, and has a population of near 7000 residents. Vila Nova de Poiares is also integrated in the CIMRC (Intermunicipal Community of the Region of Coimbra), contributing and benefiting in this way from ongoing projects and programs for the development of the Region.
