Sever do Vouga is located in the Center Region [NUT II] and belongs to the Intermunicipal Community of the Region of Aveiro, which also includes the municipalities of Águeda, Albergaria-a-Velha, Anadia, Aveiro , Estarreja, Ílhavo, Murtosa, Oliveira do Bairro, Ovar and Vagos.
The Aveiro Region occupies an area of around 1,804Km2 and supports a population of around 367,000 residents, according to the results of the 2021 Provisional Census. The Municipality of Sever do Vouga is located on the eastern edge of the District of Aveiro, benefits from the relative proximity of important urban centers [such as Aveiro, Viseu, Coimbra and Porto] and the proximity to two of the main Portuguesa road axes: the A1 [which connects Lisbon to Porto] and the A25 [which establishes the connection and access to Europe, via Vilar Formoso/Spain]. Sever do Vouga has an area of 129.93 km2 which corresponds to 14% of the total area of the Region of Aveiro and had, according to the 2011 Census, a total population of 12.356 inhabitants.
The municipality actually have seven localities: União das Freguesias de Cedrim e Paradela, União das Freguesias de Silva Escura e Dornelas, Couto de Esteves, Pessegueiro do Vouga, Rocas do Vouga, Sever do Vouga and Talhadas. The municipality is considered a low-density territory, with an aged population. The transforming industries, predominantly metalworking, are the dominant economical sector in the region. The municipality has a Social Network, participated by IPSS and social sector associations, to preventing, mitigating or eradicating situations of poverty and exclusion and promoting local social development through partnership work.
