The territory of San Michele all’Adige, located in the Provincia Autonoma di Trento (northen Italy) inlcudes the town of San Michele and two villages of Grumo and Faedo and extends between 200 and 600 meters (above sea level). Faedo has been aggregate by merger by 1st January 2020.

Located along the Via Claudia Augusta road and the Adige river, the community has always played a central, cultural and economic, part in the area of Piana Rotaliana-Königsberg and currently is playing a strategic role thanks to the connection with Trento city center (available by public transport such as train, little train, bus and bike).

Also from an agricultural and gastronomical point of view, territory is well known for the quality of their wines and especially for the sparkling wine.

The area offers many cultural and natural sights: the Augustinian Convent, the Baroque church dedicated to the Archangel Michael, consacrated in 1145 by the Bishop Prince of Trento of the time, Altemanno; the Castello di Monreale (or Königsberg Castle), is standing like a solitary sentinel amid the green woods of Faedo, overlooking the entrance to what were once territories under Tyrolean rule. In the 14th century it became the seat of the dynasties nominated by the counts of Tyrol; the “Istituto Agrario di San Michele all’Adige” foundend in 1874 on the initiative of the Tyrolean regional parliament is currently one of the most important high school in trentino, thanks to the didactic approach and farming experiments introduced by Edmund Mach, first Principal and de facto founder of the Institute; the “Museo degli Usi e Costumi della Gente Trentina”, one of the most important ethnographic museum about the customs and traditions of the people of Trentino, founded by Giuseppe Sebesta in 1968. Moreover, in 2016, the San Michele all’Adige’s Mayor Clelia Sandri and his Council allocated a grant to suport the restoration of the wonderful Aquila Nera mural frescos that face onto via Roma.

Finally, the mountains, the gently rolling hills, the plain and the rivers (Adige and Noce) that run throught it, provide the ideal setting for sports activities or just spending time with family.
