Municipality of Monção is located on the northern edge of Portugal, forming part of the Alto Minho region along with nine other municipalities.
lt establishes a border with Spain, across the Minho River, bordering the municipalities of Arcos de Valdevez, Melgaço, Paredes de Coura and Valença.
