Lousã is a Portuguese village in the district of Coimbra, in the Centro region, with 17,604 inhabitants, subdivided into 4 parishes.
lt is located in the transition zone between the two dynamics of development that demarcate the sub-region: on the one hand, the more “urban” territory, closer to the regional capital; on the other, the most remote, with a more “rural” character.
The more relevant activities responsible for economic dynamics are paper processing, electrical components, olive oil and wines and liqueurs. Also noteworthy are the services and commerce, namely tourism, which enhances the Serra da Lousã, the Schist Villages and the rich and varied historical and natural heritage.
