Kecskemét is located in the middle of Europe, also in the middle of Hungary, at the meeting point of nationalities, religions and sub-religions, so no doubt its whole history makes Kecskemét the city of openness, reception, tolerance and meetings.
The city is home to music, fine arts and animation workshops of international fame, also to unique collections and recognized scientific institutions with the task of presenting and preserving the cultural and artistic heritage. Besides these, Kecskemét has a yearly series of festivals to welcome its visitors.
In the 1990’s, a turning point occurred in the city’s economic and social structure: the service sector gained a bigger role, especially the vehicle industry. Kecskemét’s population is growing almost uniquely in the country due to the city’s economical, educational, cultural and social attraction that increases the Hungarian – and lately – foreign population.
