Daugavpils – the second largest city in Latvia by population, an important centre of socio-economic development in the Baltic States. Daugavpils is the propulsion of Latgale region, an industrial, educational centre, as well as an important cultural, sports and recreation centre. Daugavpils University, 4 vocational education institutions and 11 comprehensive schools are in the city.
Regarding the development of a family-friendly environment, it should be emphasised that in recent years the municipality has invested significant resources in urban development and the development of educational infrastructure.
