The Municipality of Castro Marim, located in the distrcit of Faro belongs to the region of Eastern Algarve, occupies an area of 300.84 km2 that stretches between the coast and the mountains. It consists of four parishes in the interior, the parishes of Odeleite, Azinhal and Castro Marim and on the coast the parish of Altura.
According to the 2011 Census, there were 2.824 classic families in the municipality, most of which were classic families with 1 or more family nuclei 2.071, which corresponds to 73.34% of the classic families of which 57.22% were family nuclei with children.
To also mention that in the same year there were 251 single-parent families in the municipality which corresponds to 21.18% of the families with children.
