The Metropolitan City of Cagliari is a large urban area which contains 17 municipalities. Its responsibilities include environment, roads and education. The latter manages secondary school funds supply and school buildings, special education support, transportation for students with disabilities, a nursery school, sports facilities and a complex metropolitan library system located inside a large urban park. These services aim to meet the needs of all citizens, paying special attention to families.
The Metropolitan City also plays a primary role in local planning and development, mostly related to the National Recovery and Resilience Plan.
