
The Municipality of Arganil administratively belongs to the Coimbra District and, from the point of view of territorial planning, it is integrated in the Central Region (NUT II) namely in the Region of Coimbra (NUT III).
The population of the municipality at the last Census, on 19th April 2021, was 11,065. lt has an area of 332.84 square kilometres.
Subdivided into fourteen parishes: Arganil, Benfeita, Celavisa, Folques, Piódão, Pomares, Pombeiro da Beira, S. Martinho da Cortiça, Sarzedo, Secarias, União de freguesias de Coja e Barril de Alva, União de Freguesias Cerdeira e Moura da Serra, União de freguesias de Cepos e Teixeira, União de freguesias de Vila Cova de Alva e Anseriz.
