The Municipality of Arcos de Valdevez is located in the district of Viana do Castelo, in the province of Alto Minho, belonging to the NUTS levei III “Minho Lima”, representing approximately 20% of the total area of Alto Minho and 2% of the total area of North region.
lts subdivision comprises 36 parishes, registering a population of around 20,718 inhabitants (2021 Census) spread over 445 Km2, constituting the largest municipality in the district and province of Minho.
Arcos de Valdevez is a characteristically rural municipality, with a dispersed geographical area, which is revealed in the isolation of many parishes, namely the most mountainous ones.
