The Municipality of Alimos covers an area of 6.7 square kilometers. It is located 8 km from the center of Athens and extends between the southwest side of Mount Ymittos and the eastern coastal zone of Attica in the Argosaronikos Gulf.
The southern side of Alimos is bordering with the Municipal unit of Elliniko, the northwestern side with the Municipality of Palaio Faliro, the northeastern side with the Municipalities of Agios dimitrios and Argyroupoli-Elliniko, while from its eastern side the Municipality of Alimos is neighboring the Municipality of Ilioupoli. Alimos is also encircled by Poseidonos Avenue from the west and by vouliagmenis Avenue from the East.
According to the 2011 census, the population of Alimos is 41,720 inhabitants, which places it in the 79th position among the Greek municipalities.
