Italy underscores its commitment to Large Families in a decisive delegation.

The long-awaited meeting between a delegation from the “Ditelo sui Tetti” network, the Forum of Family Associations, and a prominent government delegation took place yesterday evening, Monday, September 29th. The meeting took place in a cordial and constructive atmosphere, with the goal of bringing about a real shift in family policies in view of the upcoming budget law.
Also present was the President of ANFN Alfredo Caltabiano .
The government was represented by ministers Orazio Schillaci (Health), Marina Calderone (Labor and Social Policies), Giuseppe Valditara (Education and Merit), and Eugenia Roccella (Family, Birth Rate, and Equal Opportunities), as well as Undersecretary to the Presidency of the Council of Ministers Alfredo Mantovano , who organized and coordinated the meeting, now in its third year. A dozen undersecretaries from other ministries also participated.
Minister Roccella confirmed two very important commitments for our families:
- the law on large families will also be included in the 2026 Nadef , thus maintaining the programmatic path already declared;
- the inter-ministerial table will work on a reform of the ISEE.
ANFN President Alfredo Caltabiano expressed his gratitude for the law’s confirmation in 2026, calling it a commitment that gives hope to large families. He also expressed his hope that funding will be found in the next budget law so that the law can become a reality as early as next year.
In his speech, Caltabiano reiterated the essential points of the Association’s proposal:
- the reform of the ISEE , from an analogue indicator of the last century to a digital tool capable of guiding real family policies;
- the relaunch of the Family Card , an immediate and concrete measure, present in the documentation submitted to the government;
- the incentives for the purchase of seven-seater cars , necessary for large families, especially with the arrival of the fourth child.
According to President Caltabiano, this meeting isn’t a point of arrival, but rather the beginning of a process that must be realized through timely legislative measures and certain funding. We hope that significant results will emerge as early as the next budget law.
