The awards ceremony of third annual competition “Most Family-Friendly Municipality in Latvia in 2019” took place on December 16, 2019 in capital of Latvia – Riga. Among 11 awarded municipalities, 3 were distinguished by good municipal cooperation with their large family associations and were rated:
- For promoting a sense of belonging to one’s place of residence: Municipality of Stopini
- For supportive partnerships with family organisations: Municipality of Cesis,
- For municipality’s efforts to cooperate with large families association and support large families: Municipality of Vecumnieki.
During the event was happen the seminar were the Italian and Hungarian experience in the family-friendly municipal certification and the European Network of Family Friendly Municipalities. The speakers wer ELFAC President, Maria Regina Maroncelli Florio, and the representative of the Hungarian Large Families Association NOE, Katalin Balla.
This is now a good start for Latvia’ associations, their municipalities and other ELFAC members to invite in the international cooperation among family-friendly municipalities on European level to raising the European Network of Family Friendly Municipalities.
